make sure the unit is Very clean and if ya can, bring a bare block in case they want it to bolt it to while welding... if it's an automotive machine shop they'll probably have an old core floating around but if it's a welding shop they'll probably need the block.
they'll probably bolt the bellhousing to the block to hold it square while welding. not in ALL cases... but quite a few from my past experience.
OH, is this a Manny tranny bellhousing or an automatic's case you're talking about ??? if it's an automatic... i don't know if they'll want/need the tranny tore down...
i wish ya luck ;)

well... Jamie probably has more experience than i do but i'd not be comfy with JB weld... even with a drill hole to stop that end of the crack... with stress it could start/continue again. i think i'd want it welded.
no offense intended...

no offense taken
HE told me that the main clamping is around the sides and that he had seen 900+horse trannnies with cracks around the top two holes stay good for years I will give it a try anyway
thanks for your input
