anybody have those Summit Aluminum wheels? They are called either the "Star" or "Sport" models. They look very nice, available in all sizes, bolt patterns, backspacing, etc and are about half price compared to namebrand ones. They are definitely made in china - I checked with Summit (isnt everything made there now?) but that doesnt mean their junk.
I'm thinking of buying some but wanted to talk to someone that already has them and get their opinion.
thanks

LeeI got a set of American racing outlaw IIs from Summit, paid about 83.00 apiece, but way cheaper than anywhere else. I'm not sure but with a name like American racing, I'd hope they were made in the good old USA, and yeah they even had my custom backspace.

Part was polished, Look on the summit site and they have pictures, look under wheels, then American racing outlaw II, they'll have a picture that you can enlarge. BTW, like your signature.

From what I've read they don't have the backspace for the first gens. At least when I was looking at them.

I haven't bought these wheels, but I have bought a bunch of Summit brand stuff and I have always been impressed with the quality. I think they have name brand manufacturers making it for them and rebranding it.

Are you talking about the ones that look just like Weld Prostars and Draglites?

From what I've heard Summit's are not Cold Forged aluminum like Weld's.

I dunno, if your going to buy a set of custom wheels, get good ones, not some no name, off brand, crap. thats my take on it anyway.

I have the Summit Sport wheels on my Nova. They are great if you are going to leave them on at all times, but they become a hassle if you have to keep having to change them, like I do.

Unfortunately not. Weld is still manufactured in the good ol' USA but not American Racing.

American Racing went bankrupt and has changed hands several times now.

Well, so far, I'm happy with my outlaw IIs, no matter who made them, and the price was right.

Well, depend for what type of car or use, see 4 car show get brand, for street they ok, 4 racing get brand, or 4 poor people like me GET THEM....
My 2 cents, i got 4 for my nova and they are ok, just you know they aere GENERICS and no logo on the cups. Jegs are selling those too.
Good luck and think before buying. (or unless u get Weld cups and summits wheels :D )
My son has a set of the Jegs Pro-star look-a-likes on this 87 TransAm. They look almost like a real set of Weld racing Prostars but they are one piece cast wheels where the real prostars are forged 2 piece wheels. He is happy with them. They have gone 9.75 at 140 on his twin turbo fire-chicken.
