Hi all:
Have any of you ever purchased reproduction arm rest pads and used with your original arm rest bases? If so, how did they fit?
I need to replace the pads on my '72, but the original bases are in excellent shape. When I look at reproduction pads, for example, Classic Industries, the fine print states, "pads are for use with reproduction bases only."
Will they truly not fit my original bases, or do they just state that because they want you to buy the bases as well?
Thanks!

I'm using original bases with aftermarket pads...Fit is TERRIBLE.
Can't recall exactly who made the arm rest pads, I think I got them from classic as that's where I got most of my interior parts.
They over-hang the edges, and just generally fit poorly. I had problems initially with keeping them in place as well.
My father bought NEW bases and pads (assembled) and the pads fit those bases perfectly. I plan to buy new pads and bases at some point (not a high priority for my d/d nova).

I think they only make Chevelle bases (repop)they are a touch larger than Novas.

They will work, but fit won't be so great. I just got my new complete arm rests, both tops and bottoms. The fit is excellent :D

I tried the repop ones on my original bases. Sent them back to the company. But that was several years ago. They may be better nowadays.

I have both bases and pads and they fit each other very well. The Chevelle bases are slightly different. They are squared off, not tapered at the bottom.

Nova arm rest bases are not reproduced. The bases that are available are Chevelle. The pads are not meant to interchange.

greetings,
i actually purchased repop black bases and pads from someone here on ebay.
they didnt initially fit well together until i drilled a couple holes (unseen and from inside of base) to pull the pad into a more desirable location. now i am overall pleased with them. bought the pair new here from the guy for ~$40.
i like em.

I am going around and around with Classic Industries about this right now.
On the passenger side the repop pad does not meet 100% flush with the base but is is passable. you wouldn't even notice.
On the driver side I am getting ready to send back my SECOND set of base and pad. It looks like when they placed the metal plate with the hole for the screw to grab onto the pad they misplaced it by about 1/8". The pad is all cockeyed and crooked. WAY unacceptable! I have a feeling I will be unable to find a decent set.
As far as not being for a Nova and actually being a chevelle part I am not sure about that. I never compared the old one to the new one to check the size.

I got a set of pads to go with my original bases. I got them from Chevy2Only. They fit great! Could not be happier.

I also had that problem with the repo pads from Classic. They suggested that I buy their repo bases . I decided to just have my originals reupholstered. Glad I did.
