So I'm at my local parts store today whining about messing my steering box up and my header clearance problem. My parts guy said well I have a brand new manual box off a 68 camaro in the back that a guy bought and then decided to go rack and pinion.

The guy was selling it for 35 bucks ready to bolt on.
No more bulky PS box and header problems for me whoot!

Now for the million dollar question.
How do the headers fit with the new box in place?

Perfectly

Glad it worked out for ya ! Sorry you had to listen to those other guys tell you to cut that tab off... ;) ;) Is that a quick turn box or a slow one compared to what you had ?

Tommy :)

Hey Muscldreams just so you know there are 2 different length pitman arms you can get for that box. Most drag racers prefer the short one the car will tend to be less twitchy.

Yes, Yes you are.
I have driven this thing around far too long with my "manual power steering box" and it sucked big time. I had to use both arms and lots of force turning in parking lots and such before. Now I can use one finger. Its a breeze.

I highly recommend it.

I want to do a manual box too.

I also really like the way you car sits with the new front springs, do you know what the P/N is for them? What the spring rate is?

Thanks

How does that work? It seems to me after looking at it that a shorter arm would pull my drag link into my oil pan. Its not far from touching it now.

Ok I've been comparing my springs to all the moroso springs.

If the pictures show the correct spring then my part # is MOR-47165

This is the only moroso spring for novas with BBC's pictured with 10 coils

All of the others show 8 coils

I don't know the pn's but I have read that also. Slowing the gear box down helps drag racers to not over compensate on the track when the car gets squirrely... My 72 must have had the pitman arm swapped because it is sloooow.. Like 10-12 turns lock to lock, but still very easy to turn. Not what you would want for road racing at all but probably good for the 1/8th or 1/4th mile stuff.

I'll bet that green stripe would yield some info. I have seen red, orange and I think yellow. Maybe they are for an SB.
