Chevy Nova or Chevy II

I have a question about the 1969 chevy nova... I just bought a 69 and it has the chevy II badge across the front of the hood but there are no other chevy II badges on the car so is this a considered a chevy II? I heard they dropped the name in 1969, but were some nova's still produced with this chevy II badge on the hood in 1969?

It has a 68 hood on it, or at least the emblem is 68. should have a blue bowtie emblem.

My understanding is 68 was the last for the chevy ll. 69 was just the Nova. I'm sure others can confirm this, or give you a better answer. Hang loose and someone will answer your question.

Welcome to the site. :)

Could possibly have just gotten left over 68 parts from the assembly line on it also. There have been some threads regarding taillight lenses in 70 and 71 on here.

I also had a Chevy II emblem on my 69 SS hood,it is very possible to have an overlap of model year stock put on the next model year or vise versa. If your unable to varify it,it's considered incorrect. We've seen documented cars owned by the original owner with incorrect bumpers, grills, and tail lights,so it's very possible. To answer your question I would say maybe:eek: ;)

68 was the last official year of the Chevy II after that they were known as Novas.

Hey Bat, nice ride. I just picked it up today for $900. It still has the clutch pedal in place. It was a three speed on the column originally. I plan on putting a 4sp or a 5sp in it. It has a 350cu in it now. The body is nice and straight very little rust. I'll get some pictures of it.

My reference book "75 Years of Chevrolet" indicates that in 69, the car was simply called the "Nova."

A Chevy II logo on the hood would not be appropriate for 69.

My low milage 68 has the Chevy II logo on the hood and trunk and Nova on the dash pad and rear quarters.

Also, my original piece of dealer literature indicates the following on the cover - "68 Chevy II Nova". So 68 Chevy II cars also carried the Nova designation.

Another point. If the ignition switch is in the dash that is a 68 characteristic. If it is in the steering column then it is a 69.

The entire dash, dash pad and instrument cluster are different between 68 and 69's.
