No, not the 7 year itch. That's how long it has taken me to get back around to my #2 dream car (the 68-72 nova). I was 18, just graduated high school, and driving my '70 skylark. Chevelles were too expensive for me, so I was looking for a nova. I was heading off to college also, and my dad wanted me to get a truck. I ended up with my first 454SS truck instead of the Nova that summer. Since then I have owned four 454SS trucks. I currently have one 454SS truck, a '72 riviera, the '70 skylark sits after a wreck 3 years ago, and a '71 skylark parts car. While surfing on the web last month I came across a real '72 SS. He wanted to sell it with a 305 and built TH350, but I wanted neither of those. We struck a deal for the roller, and I put down a deposit. I picked it up this past Saturday and got started on Sunday.
The car came with new glass, new lights front and back, new slotted front disc brakes, new carpet, new Summit racing buckets, original back seat, new door panels/handles, new dash pad, new insulation, a covan cluster, most of the trim still wrapped up fresh from being powdercoated, freshly chromed bumpers, 20 gallon GM unit fuel cell, aluminum battery box, Weld Pro-stars with brand new tires, and probably some other small things I'm forgetting. I thought it was well worth the $5500.
I'm looking forward to the project and hope to have it rolling by the end of the summer. Thanks for reading this long post from a newbie.
Here's a few pics from before I picked it up. I pulled the interior out on Sunday to make room for some changes, but it's going back in with the same stuff.
