Well my brother and I bought a few Nova's to part out and one of them was a 68 Chevy 2. After we got it home, we decided to not destroy it. It just needs half quarters and a little body work. Floors are nice all the way through. Still has the original interior in it minus carpet. Also still has the original paint on it. So I decided to drop a motor I have had layin around. I dropped it in yesturday and fired it up tonight. Put a 9 inch 3500 stall with 400 trans behind it as well. Thinking of throwing the 12 bolt in it and hittin the streets with the Dog dish's still on it. Still need to dial it in and hook up a few things. It is a short vid. Will get a better one when all is hooked up and its dialed in. Click on the picture to play.

I got the hoses today and installed them. I ordered better headers for it. The motor has angle plug dart heads. So I need to get a set for angle plugs. Then I can get the exhaust on it.

The Motor is a 383 stroker with 10.5 to 1 Forged pistons in it. All balanced with Dart Heads with Severe Duty 2.05 Intake and 1.6 Exhaust. Cam is a Solid Custom Grind from Comp. Cams. I built the motor in 1999 for a Demolition Derby car and raced it for 4 years. Then I got to old for the derbys and put the motor away in the shed. Just dug it out a few days ago and slipped it in the Nova. I never have had the motor on the street. Just on dirt tracks in 74 through 76 Impala wagons. Will say it did make them big wagons move like no tomorrow. Will be interesting to see what it does in the Nova. Might have to run it at the strip with some 10 inch slicks and see what she will do. Any guestimates out there? Gear I am thinking of running is a 4:11 when I put the 12 bolt in.

Yes, I made the exhaust. I bought some 3 inch straight pipe from the local Muffler shop. Bought a few 180 mandrel bent pipes. And bought the x-pipe on ebay for 20 bucks. Total involved so far is 100.00 and the mufflers a friend gave me for free. Still have enough pipe and turns to make the tailpipes out behind the wheel. That will be the next step then onto the rear end swap.

I love your ride! Are you going to keep the dog dishes on there for the ulitmate sleeper look? I had a similar '68 Nova that I bought to make sleeper out of but ended up selling (wish I still had it). I just found a replacement though, a '70 with a stock 6 cyl, dog dishes etc. for $1800. I might offer him $1500 and go with a build similar to yours. I have a 355 with 12.1's and vortec heads waiting to be dropped in something! Good luck with yours!

I want to keep the dog dish look but have to find another set. The ones on there my brother nabbed. Originally we where gonna strip it so he started takin and callin parts on her for his. AS soon as I started puttin the motor in and got it runnin, he grabbed the Dish's off of it. I am looking at some now and got a line on some 15x7 Gm stock wheels so I can get a little more rubber under the rear. I might take it out tomorrow without the tailpipes fornow just to see how it sounds. Good ear on the mufflers. They are 40 series. Couldnt beat the price "Free" LOL. If I had to buy some, I would of went with 50 series to quiet it down some. But it will work. Checked the brakes and they are all great. Also checked the steering and its all tight. So its almost road worthy again. Just need to hook up the electric fans and tune it in.

Took the Nova out today. All I can say is this thing is sick. I am gonna have a traction problem. I can see this already. Was Cruisin at 30 and punched it and downshifted to 1st and the car just went sideways. Wonder how much abuse the little 8.2 can take.

I took it out with some drag lites on the rear. 15 x 8.5's with 275/60r15's on them. I wanted to see if these tires would hook up. Umm no. LOL It didnt. Might have to get me some Cal trac's or make a set up just like them. Heres a pic of her with the Drag lites on the rear.
