Yes, the hood will fit.

No, the trim is not the same. The hood lip molding and metal lip on a 73-74 hood is not as tall.

You could put a 68-72 hood trim on a '73-74 hood, but it will hang down below the metal lip.

A 73-74 hood lip on a 68-72 hood would look goofy.

When you say it will hang down below the metal lip what does that mean?Does that mean this wont work?

I've never put a nova front end togother.I got my car all apart with different year stuff from all kinds of cars. She's definitly a mutt.I wanna keep it looking like a 70 though.

The 74 Nova hood has a narrow molding along the front. The 70 hood has a wider molding, and the front of the hood is longer to support the molding. The 74 hood will fit a 70 Nova, but it will leave a wide gap between the hood and the grille, and it will look awful. Don't do it.

Comparison of the 73-74 hood molding to the 68-72.

With some modification, you can use any 68-74 hood as long as you use the right molding. I may put together a modification guide. Nothing you couldn't manage in a couple of hours. I picked this hood up to replace a damaged hood. It came from a 74 that someone had put the SS grilles in, for $75 you can't go wrong.

A friend of mine tried using a hood from a 72 on his 74 and chipped & cracked his front grill, as the lower molding caught the top of his grill ....

73/74 Grills are hard to come by ... be careful! : )

Yeah, if your going in that direction you should take a cutoff wheel and trim the lower edge of the lip (about 1/2" roughly) off the hood and use the 73/74 trim molding.

when i first got my L-88 hood for my 74' it had a 69-72 molding on it, it looked real good and fit on my car, didnt hit my grill, maybe cause it was glass, anyway, the older molding looked good because it matched the bezel and lower grill trim better than the 74's straight thin molding, i would put it back but it had damage and a new one cost to much to bother.
