I'd like to officially welcome myself to the site!:D Seriously though, I got some pictures uploaded of my recent purchase and fugured I would share. I'd also like to say that I am very impressed so far with the quality of the people and content on this site and I have felt very welcomed already..........

I have wanted a Nova for the last ten years but many different things have gotten in the way, including college and a 39 ford that I am doing. But now I have my dream car. A few weeks back I was looking through craigslists ads for the bay area where my parents live and I saw this:

1972 nova project - $1400 (hayward / castro valley)

72 nova 2 dr sedan project, sitting a while, solid strait body, running 302 v-8, automatic. lots of potential. in hayward, 510-581-XXXX.

As it turns out the car was technically sold but the seller was selling it for his brother and he didn't like the guy that was lined up to buy it, so he told the jerk that it was sold and promised it to me. You can realize that I was fearful that he might do the same to me, but he didn't. So, I went and bought the car from the brother who could be a stunt double for Chong, of Cheech and Chong, who turns out to be the SECOND OWNER from 1978. holy crap right? well the car is actually a 70, 307 ci, A/C, PS, PB/ disk in the front. All this and it was running and had good quarter panels for $1,400 :p .

Lets say that I'm pretty pleased, here are some pics:

I'm not sure, I'm going to put on two new front fenders, a 4 inch harwood hood, maybe SS badges, a floor shifter, a new intake and 4 barrel, the crager 5 stars off of my old belair, and probably leave it in black primer. :awkward:

Hey Welcome!!

Wow! your guess is as good as mine as to where to start with that project.

If you on a tight budget, do the body work yourself, it looks like everything is saveable on the outside except for the bumpers. Pick a color you like, get it painted and tint the windows down. Clean up the interior as best you can. Maybe even swap a fresh 350 in down the road.

OR get it clear-coated the way it is right now lol, put something powerful under the hood and drive the F@<$ out of it and not worry when you leave it in a parking lot....:D

Good luck with whatever way you go!!

Update on my Nova!

I finally finished the front suspension and brake rebuild, I have all energy suspension bushings and all new power disk brake stuff.

on the engine I put on an old polished generic air gap intake manifold that I had and a demon carb.

I also had some old crager rims off of a 56 belair that I had in high school, they ended up fitting perfect, even though I had to roll the rear lip on the quater panel.

I'll post the whole build in the BS section when I have more time.

Welcome! :D Your's looks about like mine did except mine was NOT running, the front seat springs poked you in the butt, and I paid $1500. My little 6-month "let's just get it running and have some fun with it" turned into 19 months and still counting! Just ordered the exhaust system from Summit, so I'm at least making SOME progress!:p

Keep us posted!
