Just wanted to give my input on this sub-frame. I am in the process of installing one of these kits from Cris Alston's Chassis works on my 66 nova prostreet project.I think the kit is of top quality.Everything fits just like they say. The instructions included in the kit are great. If you have been thinking about this kit but are unsure about it,have no fear you dont need a degree to install it.I will post pictures as soon as I find out how.Has any one else done this kit? What did you think?

I am in the process of installing one on my 64, I agree, its a great piece! the only problem I had was with the ball joints. a quick call to mike at chassis works and we figured out what the problem was. He mailed me a shipping label and i sent the ball joints off to them, a week later I recieved the correct ones and now all is good! very straight forward and easy install!:)

I put one on my '66 a couple of years ago. I don't believe there is a better one made.

Ditto here...people complain about the cost but there's a reason. It's first cabin from design, instructions, completeness, fit & finish, component quality, options to functionality.

Bringing up cost, what was a ballpark number for an installed Chassis Works fron clip? I'm basically talking just the hard parts, without powder coating or painting. I'd inclined to spend the extra money if the process was easier, and the quality was higher.
Thanks, John

The cost is higher on the Chassis works, but so is the quality. I don't believe the process is any easier. Well, maybe slightly, given the 150 page instruction manual you get from Chassis Works. I think that's the biggest complaint with the TCI and Heidt's.

I believe the prices are a little out of date but the info is still good.
Then contact Techguy, who works for Chassis works, and see what the price is going to be.

Motoboy,
I bought a book called "Super Chevy's Nova Handbook". It has a good description of how to install a Chassisworks front clip, among others. That book had as much influence on my buying that front clip as anything else I read to make my decision.

None of them seem like they're rocket-science to install as long as they are manufactured right and everything bolts together.:)

I like mine. Nice fit, finish, great welds, etc. Top notch product.

Thanks for the info on the book. I'm looking for something around the end of fall. I'll drive it the way it is for this season and tear it apart in the winter. Do the parts come coated, or just in plain steel?
