I posted something about the recent language on the site in another thread then decided to move it here so as not to disrupt that thread. What I want to get across is that we have a lot of members now and they are young and old, male and female. I am not the type of guy that gets upset when I hear by-words and unneccesary language but I also have made it a point since childhood not to use that language myself. The main thing is I hope that the members here will take others into consideration when they print curse words and obscene language that may be read by kids or women or people like myself that really just prefer not to have those words bouncing around in thier brain. I Hope anyone that reads this understands where I am coming from and will try to use some restraint when using colorful adjectives.

You have my support Tommy. Unfortunately, when we Mod's act on some things the membership goes all ape on us.
I think you are correct in feeling the way you do but, it can only happen if every member decides to be more respectful. That might be a hard thing to do' but I do support you.

i agree with you there Tommy.
i remember as a boy my dad would curse sometimes but my
mom always said that cursing was a sign of lack of knowledge
of anything more intelligent to say and it has stuck with me
ever since, though i admit to cursing while driving alone sometimes.

Well, I've never been one to follow along with the group so I guess, HEY do what you will if it's what you want. But I am going to keep being ME because thats who I am.
Besides, I've seen the crap scratched into the lockers in the schools. I've seen what the kids are wearing, writing, saying these days. What they are watching on "their" TV shows, video games, the "teen" magazines.
IMO this site is pretty clean, but maybe some are trying to get a little too conservative about it.

when i used to come back off of long trips on the ships i really had to watch my language for a couple of weeks. ie please pass the **** potatoes. but with my wife being a elementary teacher, i find the old swear words are blending into normal speech (the old classics still stand - sorry George Carlin) and some of the new swear words, i just look at her and go HUH. We will be talking and she will inform me that what i've just said is something that is considered a swear word. i'm not gonna give examples it just stuff that i've noticed. I think it is enviroment and slang of the generations.

I've also noticed all of the "creative" ways people spell their profane words to get around the unacceptable word filter. If it won't pass the filter, it means that Steve has placed that word on the list. Surely people here are intelligent and polite enough to say what they mean using acceptable words. ;)

I actually don't mind it, as long as it is not meant to be outright hurtful. Our society is a very color full thing, without all the different personalities we would have a very drab planet. Voicing ones opinion and practicing ones beliefs are a very bountiful thing. But trying to force others to follow your own beliefs is not.

You can post your beliefs without using profane language.
Yes, I am guilty of writing mild profanities but, I could also get the massage across without using them.

If you come to my garage to have a couple of cold ones, I cuss.

Mar, you are very correct. But as for me, I am who I am. I type the way that I talk. Alot of my mispelled words are that way on purpose because of my pronounciation translating to type. If we were face to face and you didn't swear, I wouldn't expect or ask you to do so just to benifit me, also I wouldn't change the way I talk if you asked me to. I am my own person and lived a portion of my life where I was told how to do everything, that ain't ever gonna happen again.

The force here is Steve. It is a private site and he has established certain rules. If you can't follow them, don't post.
If you visited my house and were, as you put it, "colorful", you would not be invited back. If you were colorful around me at your house, that would be your prerogative, and I'd probably overlook it. The bottom line is, this is Steve's house, not an outhouse.;) ;)

But, I have to admit when I go into someone elses house out of respect, I don't. It's not that hard to do.

one thing that is possibly being overlooked here is the fact that words and comments can be rude, degrading, and outright disrespectful whether they are cuss words or not...sometimes we should just think a little more before we type so that things wont get taken out of context...

I think Super Sport hit the nail on the head. Think of it as being at Steves House. He and the Mods provide one of the greatest sites around and we all need to show them some respect. Though my work, I use another unrelated site that has no mods......it gets completely out of control every single day. People telling each other to $^%^%^%# all the time. They show a total lack of respect towards each other. Steves site is great. Thanks Steve!

For the sake of the people on this site, just refrain from using language that is inaproppriate for this site. It's that simple. It's called respect. I also use language that I shouldn't, But not around people that may be offended.

I personally avoid sites where I have to endure the outward signs of stupidity. This is the only site, to my knowledge, that one can visit without the trash mouthing.
It is just as easy to say a good word as it s a bad one.
Remember that what comes from a persons mouth comes from its source. (The heart... That's who we really are)

I can remember as a kid that a popular comeback when given the "bird" was "Is that your age or IQ?" When using inappropiate language on a forum such as this, whether it's off-color, obscene, racial, etc., only shows the immaturity and bad judgment of the individual that posted it. You're not talking to one individual here, but many people of varied interests and backrounds. Some young, some old, male as well as female, Christians as well as non-Christians, and your wording may not be acceptable to all. Try to picture yourself on a stage in front of many strangers. You don't know any of them personally, but, unless your intent is less than honorable, you try to come across as an intelligent, articulate speaker, so that everyone can enjoy the topic. I guess what I'm saying, is that one should show the same respect and consideration on this board, that he would talking to his mother, wife, and kids.

I work in an enviorment where swearing is part of "normal" conversation, but it dosn't come home with me. I never swear in front of my wife or son. In fact when my son was 5 and he dropped the F-bomb:rolleyes: in front of my 80 year old mother:eek: we asked him where he heard it - he said " Mommy says it all the time when shes driving!" So they are now called " Mommy driving words"
