Someone will chime in. onephatz28 18th-February-2007, 06:59 PM thanks:D :D 74 hatchback 18th-February-2007, 07:32 PM might look funny, the lower bezels/trim wont match. If you dont like how they stick out, put them in to the grill and drill new mounting holes, i moved both bumps on my 74' 3.5 inches, or put a 68-72 front end on it, or just sell it and buy a 68'! my2c! onephatz28 18th-February-2007, 08:08 PM might look funny, the lower bezels/trim wont match. IF I could move the rear bumper in 3-4 inches I would be happy. I just think they stick out to fare 74 hatchback 18th-February-2007, 08:14 PM IF I could move the rear bumper in 3-4 inches I would be happy. I just think they stick out to fare if you can get a 74' rear bump, it will bolt to your body by opening the holes a little, the easy to tuck the bumps in , is to use a 73' front and redrill the holes and a 74' back just oval the holes, also the extra 74' weight makes for good traction in the back onephatz28 18th-February-2007, 11:00 PM do you have pics of this done Stock72Nova 19th-February-2007, 12:51 AM someone on this site was converting a 74 to 68-72 looked cool. I like the looks of the 68-72 much better than anything after 72. onephatz28 19th-February-2007, 03:59 AM I hope someone has pics they could show me:D MuscleDreams 19th-February-2007, 09:11 AM My old 73 & my old 74 from 10 years ago. Took bumper and brackets off a 69. Also ordered a grill and headlight bezels to make it look right. I don't think it will look good if you just swap the bumper. It's easy to do the swap you just need the 68-72 bracketry. Also, I just bolted mine straight on. I didn't drill any holes or anything. It's very straightforward once you have all the right parts and look at it. Before http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y121/monk75/Nova10.jpg After http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y121/monk75/Nova17-1.jpg Did the same thing to my old 74 http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y121/monk75/Nova4-1.jpg onephatz28 19th-February-2007, 04:55 PM  looks real good. Thank alot, is the rear the same as the front. onephatz28 19th-February-2007, 05:00 PM your right, I will Also ordered a grill and headlight too MuscleDreams 19th-February-2007, 05:26 PM  looks real good. Thank alot, is the rear the same as the front. The rear is not the same because of the gas filler. You COULD buy a new tail panel and have it welded in if you wanted to shell out the money or if you know how to do it. I did it myself but it was hell for me because I new jack about body work and it was held in place by lead solder. I would hire a body shop if I were you or keep the original 73 rear bumper and tail panel. I guess you could run a 68-72 rear bumper without replacing the tail panel but it wouldn't look right. Here is a link to a 68 - 72 tail panel, they are for sale everywhere on ebay and can be made to work on a 73. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-1971-1972-70-Nova-rear-body-tail-light-panel-new_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34204QQihZ016QQitem Z260088696100QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V#ebayphotohost ing http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y121/monk75/30_1.jpg Here is a 73/74 for comparison http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y121/monk75/5a_1.jpg 74 hatchback 19th-February-2007, 06:11 PM do you have pics of this done http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/marydoright/Dieters%20Nova/DietersNovaAug2006002.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/marydoright/Dieters%20Nova/DietersNovaAug2006010.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/marydoright/Dieters%20Nova/DietersNovaAug2006008.jpg onephatz28 19th-February-2007, 09:39 PM http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/marydoright/Dieters%20Nova/DietersNovaAug2006002.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/marydoright/Dieters%20Nova/DietersNovaAug2006010.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/marydoright/Dieters%20Nova/DietersNovaAug2006008.jpg :D :D :D that is the look I am going for. that looks real good 74 hatchback 19th-February-2007, 10:59 PM i hope you dont mean the paint job:eek: i know looks 70s or early 80s but its early 90s for me, yes i did this to hide some bondo work, but im getting ready to replace some metal and paint it hugger orange! the paint is dead! i might go with charcole gray 74' SS stripes with the orange and put my L-88 hood back on. by the way i have my 74' bumper in the front but i had to make a bracket to use it, using a 73' bumper should be less work! 74' rear bolts right up and i just tossed all the messed up filler plastic and 5 mph bumper shocks in the garbage! onephatz28 20th-February-2007, 02:27 PM i hope you dont mean the paint job:eek: i know looks 70s or early 80s but its early 90s for me, yes i did this to hide some bondo work, but im getting ready to replace some metal and paint it hugger orange! the paint is dead! i might go with charcole gray 74' SS stripes with the orange and put my L-88 hood back on. by the way i have my 74' bumper in the front but i had to make a bracket to use it, using a 73' bumper should be less work! 74' rear bolts right up and i just tossed all the messed up filler plastic and 5 mph bumper shocks in the garbage! :D :D :D :D I mean the bumpers LOL | |
