Slop in steering column

In my 65 Nova I got some slop in the steering column? I have a few question for you guys.

1, Is it a bearing or spacer that keeps the column tight? And what is the part called?
2, Can I order this part or is it a wrecking yard pull?
3, It does have the column shifter removed. would this part being removed make for some slop somehow?

I am lucky anough to have a large salvage yard close to me with lots of old Nova's. Or should I just look for a new part?

I bought the car this way so not really sure whats going on inside my column.

As always thanks

The column tube is held tight to the underside of the dash by a bracket, should be easy to check. The steering shaft and wheel stay centered with the upper bearing. Pull the wheel and look to see if anything is loose or broken. Keep track of the parts as you pull them off, assambly is the opposite of dissassembly. To just pull the shifter handle shouldnt cause a problem. Is the collar that goes on the column still there? If my memory is right, it needs to be there.
