Well i finally got my 72' off the ground and on Jack stands, so i can get a better look at whats underneath. I knew my leaf springs were shot, and my body mount bushings were all dried out and falling apart. Everything else looks good.

So my question: I need relpace the leafsprings, all four shocks, and body mount bushings, should I:

1 put the front end of the car back on its wheels and do the leaf springs, rear shocks first,

2 put the rear wheels on and lower the rear and do the bushhings, and front shocks first,

3 or can i do it while its all in the air?

Its my first time to do this sort of work, and i don't want the car falling on my head! It is stable and secure on the stands, and i shoved the tires underneath for safety. The car is just a weekend cruiser, the more comfy the ride, the more the family will ride with me.

also any safty tips or smart remarks are well appreciated.

Thanks

As long at the car is stable, I'd say do number 3. If that makes you feel unsafe either 1 or 2 is fine. I guess it would depend on what end you can complete the fastest and the cheapest.

I would do number three as well. The body bushing will be the easiest or hardest, depending on how the bolts come out. I would spray them with wd40 or anti-sieze now and let it soak in. If they come out easily, you are in luck.

I have sprayed and will spray once a week the the bolts with PB Blaster...just to save my knuckles. Thanks for the advice! I'm sure i'll have more questions as i get into it!

If it were me, I'd do it one end at a time (option 1 or 2) I don't think it makes much difference which end you start with, but seems to me the car would be more stable with two wheels on the ground.

I did all the same stuff to my '72, doing one end at a time...

Do whatever seems easiest and most comfortable to YOU because YOU are the one working on it.
