SS Emblem Placement???

Ok,
Here's the question:
Where exactly does the SS emblem get placed in regards to the grill openings?? Just got some new emblems and want to do it right. On SS grilles there are two silver slots on top and bottom and 5 blacked out slots in between.
With backing plate you can either go slightly lower than middle or slightly higher, can't get it right in the middle on the middle black slot. Looked at a lot of pics and there are some of each. Just wondering which is factory correct?

I think they go slightly higher. Look at this car, just doesnt look right to me.

Yeah, that one does look like it's off a little. Just wondering what the factory placement was. Like I said because the backing plate has to go in between slots it can be higher or lower because there are only 5 slots and you cannot put in a middle slot because there is no middle slot.

Needs to go up one horizontal bar(those S's need to fit in between those horizontal center bars)- if it is the correct SS piece. Black out the grill, HEADLIGHT DOORS and END CAPS if doing it.The bumper filler factory color is a semi flat argent silver.

So looking at your unrestored grille it looks like it goes lower, sort of like the orange car in above posts.

No it goes to the top the grill is upside down in the pic.I thought the same thing until I noticed it was upside down.

No,but it is identical to mine other than it's a SBC.It was at this years Nova Nats I drooled on the car for an hour then took a couple of pages of notes how things were painted and assembled.Even sports the original T 3 head lights!The only repair or work was the rims were repainted back 71 Lemans Blue at some point the 1st owner had them done in black.
