I live in the valley of 2 mountains, and early morning driving can be VERY foggy. My 74 nova has holes in the front bumper that looks ideal for a pair of rectagular fogs i saw at wal-mart the other day, but i dont want it to look cheap. think shoving a pair of fogs in there would look odd?

This same idea has crossed my mind as well on my '72.
I've never done it, and probably never will...but If I were to install 'em, I'd use the slots in the bumper as well...but space them far enough back that they weren't obviously there (unless of course, they're on).
In most applications, I think fog lights look a little lame...so keep 'em tucked up out of sight if possible.

If you go upwards from the hole in the bottom of the bumper, places them right near the openings in the bumper itself. May take a little fabrication but looks better then bolting them on and dragging the ground.
Hope that sounds right. Hard to type and get into words..

The idea of fog lights is great. Had them behind the grille of my 78 for a while. They were mounted poorly and wobbled all over the place so they came out.
As far as setting fog lights back, keep in mind that the light emitted is spread wide (to avoid creating glare in the fog) compared to driving lights which are narrowed and focused. Setting fogs back out of sight may defeat the purpose of having them there in the first place.
May be set them back enough not to be immediately noticeable but forward enough to be useful. Just my $.02.

I always thought that if you took out the blinker on like my 72 for instance and put the fogs in there it would look just like clear blinkers i see that some people ahve, then you could just ge the orange dot blinkers for behind the grill that the hot rod guys do

I've been pondering this one too. The slickest idea I have come up with would be kind of tough to pull off. The Chevrolet Serie II (or Coupe Chevy SS) built in Argentina had the turn signals in the headlight bezels. If you could get a set of these, you could mount the foglights or driving lights in the bumpers in the original parking light location.

Or if you could find some lights that are actually sized to fit the holes in the bumper...

yeah, i have also thought about putting fogs in the place of the blinkers, but the holes in the bumper just look so dang perfect. i have seen fogs at andvance auto and walmart that look perfect for shoving um in there, and yes, setting them back would defeat the purpose, but i would need then to fit almost perfectly to not look ugly.

Look at the custom grilles he made to fit in the slots. Maybe you could get some rectangular lights and make a grill like this to fit around them to make it a cleaner look........just a suggestion:rolleyes:
