I need help on some wheels.I have a 70 nova. What is the factory lug pattern on a 5 lug wheel. What backspacing should I run on a 15x8 inch wheel that will not rub on a factory rear fender well. What back spacing should I use on a 15x7 inch wheel that will not rub on the front fender or on the frame when the wheel is turned all the way.

Factory lug pattern is 5 on 4 3/4"
A 15X8 should require somewhere in the nieghborhood of 4.5" of backspace for no rubbing. Each car is a little different, some can get away with a little less.
I can tell you my '72 would require a minimum of 4.5" on backspace, or the drivers side rear would rub on the lip of the wheel well.
I've fitting a pair of 15x7's front and rear in my '72, the wheels have 4" of backspace and I haven't had a single problem with rubbing at any time.
IIRC, the tires were 215/75/15's in the front, and 235/60/15's in the rear.
I'm current running a set of four 14 x 7's with 235/60 tires on all four, with 3.5" backspace. No rubbing anywhere.

I've got 15x8 in the rear with 5"bs and 255/60's. On the front I have 15x7 with 4.25"bs and 205/60's and have no rubbing issues at all on the Camaro style rallies
