I have heard pros and cons about attempting to take some of the slack out of the steering wheel by adjusting the nut/screw on top of the steering box. My steering wheel has some minor slack and I would like to tighten it up. The car has factory power steering and it is great once you get moving. However when parked and at very low speeds there is some play in the steering wheel.
Any thoughts?

Adjust it! If you need to back it off again, you can.

Ya, you just dont want it over-tightened. Othere than that, I dont see what "cons" there could be to removing slack in the steering.

The box is designed to have more slack in the straight ahead position so the car seeks a straight line with the alignment specs. The box tightens up as you turn to give more feed back on what the wheels are doing. If you tighten it up too much it may bind when you turn sharp. If so, as said before, back it off a little till it feels right.
