leaf springs ?

is it necessary to have the rubber pads on the springs or not between the bottom plate and next to the housing my old ones or busted when i put cal tracs on they are bad so just wondering if i had to install new ones or leave them out

you dont need rubber, but you do need a 1/4 inch steel plate with a hole in it so your leaf spring bolt head doesnt hit the axle tube, my nova has these plates on both top and bottom and its been this way for 14 years with no problems. i have no rubber left in my car, all solid!
