I was wondering if anyone makes a reinforcing kit to weld around the rear of the rear spring eyes. My frame has some rust damage in that area and I dont want to replace the whole frame, but feel like hard launches could drop the springs out of the frame. The front spring eye locations are fine. I'm going to weld in frame connectors there. If not, maybe if I find enough interest, I'll fab some up and put them on E-bay, couldnt hurt even on a good frame as there is only about a 1/4 inch of metal under the eye.

I do not think it is a matter of making a simple piece that would strengthen that area. The problem is the full rail supports the rear spring, trunk floor, and rear bumper. They do make a rear frame rail replacement piece that I think only replaces the straight piece at the rear of the car. That would be the best way to go in my opinion. The other possible solution would be to weld a piece of rectangular tubing in its place.

Chevy II Only makes a nice repair piece. They are $59 a piece, complete with spring perch, bumper bracket hole and flanged ends. They make a ten inch one and another a little longer i think for a third gen.
Good luck.

comp eng makes a relacement frame rail that fits perfect. i had the same prob in my 70 and did not want to chance it wit a "patch" job. i think they were 100.00 at jegs. money very well spent.....i just wish i would have gone with a ladder set up or a 4 link now that i think about all the time i spent on it.
dont get me wrong....it was a snap to put in, but i bet for the same amount of time, i could of done a ladder bar setup. just a little more ****$.
the frame rails were a work of art. cut the old ones out and weld the new ones in.
i left some of the old rails in to give me a guide. and trimmed as i went. i also went as far to weld in some cross braces to help solidify the frame/car.
