Hello everyone, I'm looking at buying my first Nova, actually my first GM so I have a lot to learn. I've always been a mopar guy and just sold my 70 Cuda a few months ago, my best friend has a rock solid original sheetmetal 71 350 Nova that he has to sell and i'm thinking on picking it up. I'm still trying to figure out how you tell if its an SS car or a Rallye car.

The car is nicely built with a complete Elderbrock engine kit, aluminum heads, intake, carb, aluminum radiator, dual flowmaster exhaust, sub frame connectors, 3:73 10-bolt posi, 700R4 trans with 3500 stall, B&M shifter, and hooker super comp headers. Everything is only a matter of a year old and the car runs consitant 13.1's all day long.

The things the car needs IMO, is some character. I want to get a stripe package for the car, set of chrome magnum 500's with the ss center caps, lower the stance with biggest tires possible. The seats are also not correct, so i'll be looking for a set of buckets. In the future if all goes well I'd like to do a 4/5spd conversion, either a muncie or a Tremec 5spd (if possible). So i'll be posting lots of questions in the time to come. :)

Here is a pic of the car, and the second is a photochopp of how I want it to look..lol. (i'm still trying to decifer the two yenko stripe packages) Look forward to comments, reccomendations and input.

Hey Thanks guys, think this place is gonna be very helpful for me. I forgot to ask...any guess on what this car is worth. The price he offered me is 15K canadian or approx $12500US. THat includes everything I mentioned abover minus the wheels.

Thanks!

I would say that pretty reasonable for an original sheet metal car and the goodies posted especially on the north side of the border.

Oh ya welcome to the site EH!!

THanks Paul, yeah i'd say the price is more then fair, he'd probably ask a lot more if he wasn't selling it to me. Can't wait to get it and start the transformation, gonna be a great little car for the summer.

Nice ride Dave (if you get it). Welcome to the site.

There is tons of useful info here. Nice to see some other 3rd gens from the Calgary area. I just moved from there to Airdrie before Christmas.

Hey! Great to know someone on here is local to me...I"m actually in Chestermere, bought a house in June.

I'm excited to get this car, the price is WAY more practical then i've been paying for my last couple Cuda's...its got to the point that you can't enjoy them unless your rich. These nova'a are a car I always liked and this is the first opportunity I had to buy one, hope it all works out!!

I can't wait to get it ready for some show and shine's this summer, the show in Airdrie is a great turn out, I went last year and checked it out!

Thanks again everyone! Great atmosphere here...what do you guys think of the 15x8/15x7 chrome magnum wheel combo with the ss center caps? Can't find a nova with them on it to tell exactly what it would look like. I'd also like to check out a nice set of Coys or something too. :nascar: Whats the biggest tire that will fit under these cars without mods?

the rear is the biggest problem. i found, and many others that a 255/60-15 on a 15x8 with 5 inch back space is the most tire without any mods, most novas also favor one side to the other within a 1/4 inch.

Hey Dave, I love Coys wheels (great bang for the buck). The only problem I found is that Coys will not ship across the border (he says he's been screwed too many times) and no one localy sells them. There is a member here named "novanutcase" that gave me a name of a distributor that will ship to Canada but I have been procastinating since I am not 100% on the whole boarder thing yet.

When do you have to decide by for this Nova? I say go for it:)

Thanks for the info on the Coys...didn't realize they weren't available up here. I"ll probably just go with the Chrome magnum 500's from Darryl at Wheelmaster, he's great to deal with and reasonable prices. The car i'm looking at has 15x7's on the back and 275/60's, they don't rub either so i'll have to ask him how he pulled that off, I'd like to run the same tire except with the 15x8 rear rims i'm planning on getting.

There is no real hurry or risk missing out on the car, its not actually listed, he just offered to sell it to me, the car is in PEI and he has to do something to the tranny, reverse band or something. Luckily he works at a tranny shop..lol. After that I can get it shipped out if I go ahead...which I see no reason not to. :)

Welcome. hopefully this will take you to the correct page but autowaretech7.net/nextwheels/ is a site you can match up pictures of novas and wheels, and also has a 'paint' program on there too I believe. good luck with your car.:chev:
