I have been noticing on the cowl tag of my 68, a letter right above the body number. 2 of my cars have an "E" and one has a "L". Any thoughts on this?

Any thoughts on this? jason 68 L78 2nd-February-2007, 09:08 AM Jeff, Mine has a G in the same spot! http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d189/jasonchale/APR08-04.jpg JeffL 2nd-February-2007, 09:51 AM Maybe Greg/Nova Research can help us on this. Happy birthday Greg! YENKO DEUCE REG 2nd-February-2007, 05:57 PM Do these three cars have different color interiors? The later cars also have a single letter, but in a different location on the TT. This letter on the later cars indicates the interior color, and might also indicate interior color for the '68's. M jason 68 L78 2nd-February-2007, 06:24 PM Makes sense for my car the interior is Ivy Gold (G). But the E on Jeffs tag doesn't work out that way. I think his interior is black! Jason kenfb1 2nd-February-2007, 09:13 PM Hi guys, I have a B on my TT and the original interior was Blue. Sounds like that may be the answer, but who knows?? Ken Tommy 3rd-February-2007, 12:22 AM I am quite positive that letter is referring to the interior trim color and safety belt colors. The letter E or L indicates black trim and black safety belts. The letter B indicates blue for both and the letter G or P indicates gold interior trim and black belts for the standard interior and Gold belts for the optional interior. Tommy:) Staring at the proof as I type :D Tommy 3rd-February-2007, 12:39 AM I scanned it. Hope this helps :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/68sschevyII/68%20nova%20stuff/68interiorcodes.jpg Tommy:) jason 68 L78 3rd-February-2007, 07:04 AM Your the man tommy! What book is that from! Jason Tommy 3rd-February-2007, 10:40 AM Heres a second scan from later in 68. Basically the same thing just laid out differently. This page is a revision dated April 22, 1968. About the time the Big blocks and the L79 engine showed up for that year. Interior options are still the same. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/68sschevyII/68%20nova%20stuff/68intcodes2.jpg Tommy:) JeffL 3rd-February-2007, 11:48 AM Tommy Good work ! That explains the "L" on my big block car. Tommy 3rd-February-2007, 01:19 PM What book is that from! Jason I can't seem to the phone number and address to get that right now Jason. I'll keep looking. I have had some of these books for awhile, they are free. I posted it once here but the thread is old and I can't find it. Tommy:) Tommy 11th-February-2007, 01:03 AM write and tell them what year and type of car you have and you should get same books they sent me. FREE MSX International Attn: GM CHEVY RESTO 1426 Pacific Dr. Auburn Hill, MI 48326 Tommy:) jason 68 L78 11th-February-2007, 08:49 AM I will do that. How are the books free! What do I do! Write to them tell them what I am restoring and ask for any books they have on it. Jason Tommy 11th-February-2007, 09:57 AM I had a phone number but it isn't any good any more. All I did was call and tell them I had a 68 chevyII Nova and wanted all the information they could send me. They said it was free and they sent 2 packets of info. One was the AMA specs on the car and the other was a list of restorers and parts and services and all kinds of other neat stuff on our old cars. I got mine about 5 years ago. With the phone being disconnected I don't know about the address but its worth a try. Tommy:) taz3 11th-February-2007, 04:18 PM I wonder if this is the same as 69 and is the dash color code. If you 68 owners don't mind could you post your letter on TT and dash color.
