When I think of a gasser I think 1st ,2cd gen. I don't know if I would like a 3rd gen gassed???? Bscman 2nd-February-2007, 02:05 AM +1.... I think you're a generation or two too late (body style). bowtie0069 2nd-February-2007, 02:14 AM what do you guys think I think.....No. A 409 should only go in a 65 or older car. And the straight axle on a 3rd gen just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. By 72, gassers were lower and getting swoopier body styles, not the raised up/straight axle look of the 60's. Steve Magnante built his Ford Fairmont axle car as a "what if they still built em this way" excercise, and you should hear the things people say about it. Not pretty! the FLYER 2nd-February-2007, 03:04 AM i think the Fairmont that was done looks good. i think the body lines etc lends itself rather nicely for an altered car... BUT, i think the third genner's smoother body likes would be a conflict with the "gasser look". i also agree about the engine, i'd think it'd lend itself better in an early ta mid '60's car. but then ya come ta rule number one when it comes to cars... Rule #1) it's your car, do what YOU like. ;) :D XINLOI44 2nd-February-2007, 04:50 AM I have to agree with the others, even Johnny, not on a 3rd gen. I think it would have to look out of place. JMO Don shawner 2nd-February-2007, 03:53 PM 409 parts are huge money now. especially for the original hiperf stuff such as the 690 heads etc. i recently sold a 62 belair bubbletop that i was cloning into a 409. i had 9000.00 just into the motor, and i didn't have all the proper brackets and small items such as generator etc. it was way to pricey for me. not to mention i was afraid of grenading the engine because of how hard it is to find some of the stuff:eek: i agree with the rest of you. wrong period year for 409 imo:) MuscleDreams 2nd-February-2007, 04:02 PM I'm not a gasser fan on any model. Definately not a 3rd gen. JMO Stock72Nova 2nd-February-2007, 04:24 PM I know that its wrong year and stuff but thats just because I cannot afford a 41 willys to do this to. I was kinda thinkin that it would be cool but Still though it would be ugly thats why I was on thwe fence about it. thanks for the help guys. | |
