The painted pieces were a heavier gauge still, not the anodized aluminum. They fit the same, but aren't the same.

right, I should have been more clear. they are not aluminum like the bright moldings. Thanks for clarifying.

I can't believe noone repops these yet. They would sell like crazy.

J&W Nova was working on them, I don't know if they abandoned the project or not. You can buy the flat vertical pieces from their catalog, but thats all. :(

I think the last set of mouldings that the guy had on ebay sold for 1500.00

Ras_Golf (the seller on Ebay) is a guy named Randy out of Oregon. He restores trim for a living. I sold him a few pieces a while back and he turned them around and sold them for 3x more than he paid for them.

J&W needs to get to work on creating some repops. $1000.00 for 4 pieces of aluminum is ridiculous.

so if i were to take my aluminum trim off and put on the heavier metal ones i found from a salvage yard-once the trim comes off the doors- they are essentially bare?
nothing goes in their place?

My car originally had the painted trim. While I was restoring it, I bought a nice used set from Allen_396 (thanks buddy!). But in a local junkyard, I found several 3rd gen Novas, two of which had the bright trim. I had to use pieces off of two cars, but I got all of the trim for......$25. :D

I got 6 of the pieces for mine off a 73 buick apollo which I paid $450 for the whole car. The molding was almost mint and not cloudy at all since the car was garage kept.


Checking these ebay prices makes me want to go junkyard hunting again. sounds like even an OK set can net a nice price on ebay. check this auction for not even a complete set!! :eek:
