Hoooker Competition Headers (not super comps).

The driver side hangs a bit lower than the passenger side...when I was running the old 6cyl. springs the drivers side collector scraped a few times. It hangs a couple inches BELOW the subframe.

I like the headers (for cheap, painted headers) they're great. Thick, strong flanges and what-not (like 'em better than my hedmans) but don't like they way they configure on the 3rd gen nova's....
Wouldn't buy again for the nova, but would again for a truck!

Doug Thorley's, ceramic coated - would like to tell you how they fit, but they are still new-in-box :( One of these years I plan to bolt them on as 'open' just to see how they sound! :D

Headers on the deuce? You must have seen the light!!!:D Maybe you were referring to the L78 (I see you put an "s" after years).

I used Summits #SUM-G9001-9 which are Headman headers packaged for Summit. They fit great and I have no clearance issues at all... Full length headers with a primary Tube Diameter 1 5/8 in and the collector is 3 inch. Also all ceramic coated for $178 !!

With fairly stiff springs you'll probably be fine...
At stock height in my '72 I've never scraped 'em...but my old 6cyl springs sat about 2.5" lower...at higher speeds and big dips I'd throw sparks from the collector....but the springs were WAY soft for the application.

Hooker Comp ceramic coated. One side hangs lower (driver side I think)than the other. But fit just fine.

I just bought headers from "Parr"; ceramic coated. They are off brand, but I like the swept back design with all tubes going towards the firewall.

I did a test fit on the passanger's side yesterday. They cleared my starter very good, but are tight on the transmission lines. No ground clearance problems.

The kit included bolts, gaskets, and collectors, total cost $270.00.

Hooker Super Comps 1 7/8 with 3 1/2" collectors, and full 3" mandrel bent.
The drives side hangs lower and at the collector flange, it can and does hit on speed bumps. The individual pipes as they merge to the collector are also lower, and I have managed to dent the bottom 2 pipes and scraped all of the ceramic coating off of them.
If you are lowered, you may want to watch the speed bumps, but every day driving is not an issue.
I am lowered about 2" front and 1.5" rear.

I use Summit's Cheap headers. They fit good. I also use Hedman header reducers and cut off the collectors so I din't have any leak or clearance issues.
