In the mini tub sticky there is a dead link to narrowing the stock gas tank.
Would anybody happen to have saved the info?
It seems fairly simple, but having help from previous experience would be nice. :)
Thanks!

Have a radiator repair shop do it, I don't think risking my life would be worth it.
I looked into in when I did the mini-tub on my old 69, and some shops would boil the tank, then cut off the amount I wanted on each side, then weld a flat piece of steel on the sides. Not quite stock looking, and I also found out they tend to rust on the inside after they have been welded.
Then I found a place that repaired gas tanks, and would coat them inside and outside with a black material that they guarantied for life. So I asked them if they would narrow it, and they said there welder would, and would even cut the section out, then weld the ends back on for a stock look, then coat it! Price was something like $250-300 for it all, but I sold the car before I got around to finishing it, so I never had the tank done.
Call around, you might find something similar.

My tank is as dry as a bone, so I'm not worried about cutting and welding on it. The rusting on the inside after welding is what concerns me most..
I need to look into coatings I guess.
When I'm finished mini-tubbing and relocating the leaf springs I'll find out exactly how much it needs to be narrowed and go from there. I plan on sumping it too - and if I can do all that to the stocker it will save some ****.
Thanks for the post. :)

I would definatley be worried about welding a gas tank. Bone dry dosen't matter. Fumes can blow your head off! Have a radiator shop do it. Then buy POR-15 U.S. Standard sealer kit and do that yourself. I just cleaned and sealed my gas tank with that stuff, it works Great.

When I said bone dry - I meant as in 15 years bone dry. It just smells like dirt inside! :)
I've got a buddy that will tig it for me. I can mig weld fairly well, but I've seen a tank he did - had a radiator shop seal it up - and it looked factory. Even with the sump...
