Dropped spindlesMrAcadian 28th-December-2006, 12:09 PM Who makes dropped spindles for the stock front end? Scott Argrandawg 28th-December-2006, 12:54 PM Can't beat Ebay. But if you are new to this site realize there is a huge amount of options beginning with front disc brakes. I haven't made up my mind yet and I've been researching for six months. CCP has a great kit. Front clips like TCI offer you that and more. Or just rotors and calipers with adapters straight from several on Ebay. It was easier for me to find and buy a house. Big garage that just got bigger:D :D :D novanutcase 28th-December-2006, 01:04 PM If your just dropping the car for looks and are going to primarily street drive the car then they are OK but if you are going to be doing ANY performance driving with it drop spindles are a no-no! Argrandawg 28th-December-2006, 01:52 PM So is the general consensus here to not drop if you want a pro-touring type street car?? I like the look of dropped front ends but I don't want to give up any ride, I actually thought I would be gaining ride and handling, No?? I also didn't want to rub fenders up front but didn't know how everyone was able to achieve that.  MrAcadian 28th-December-2006, 02:30 PM All I want to know is who makes a dropped spindle that fits in the place of a stock spindle. I am not interested in any red green fixes, that is not my style. Scott novanutcase 28th-December-2006, 04:33 PM A better way to lower your car is to cut the OEM springs! This way you don't sacrifice handling but if it's just for looks then go ahead. SteveM 28th-December-2006, 05:18 PM I have a set of Superior Spindles 2" drops. They work fine, and the set I have was built for disk brakes. They are a big improvement over the stock setup that was on my '63. SteveM. MrAcadian 28th-December-2006, 05:26 PM Steve, is the companies full name Superior Spindles? Super Sport thanks I am looking into your sugestion too. Scott Scooter 28th-December-2006, 09:01 PM I always thought spindles were the best way to lower, besides bags maybe. Cutting springs or getting lowered springs changes the suspension and steering geometry and usually makes for a stiffer ride since the spring rate increases. Maybe I'm wrong though. by the way, I've heard good things about Superior Spindles too. -Aaron Jake 29th-December-2006, 01:15 AM Best stuff on the market IMHO!http://www.mcgaughys.com/brakesnsuspension.html SuperNova69 29th-December-2006, 01:55 AM The problem with drop spindles is it keeps the stock geometry. If your car is just a cruiser and you don't do much else, then that's fine with you. You may, however, have interference problems between the tierod ends and the wheels since the mounting point gets lowered. Drop springs change the geometry, yes, but in a good way. Besides, the stock geometry is garbage if you want to do any spirited driving. And the ride doesn't suffer at all, actually. I've got the Hotchkis 2" drop springs that are around 600# spring rate and it's just as smooth as the stock springs. Matt xc4rx 29th-December-2006, 03:47 AM give superior spindles a call have them on my 69 could not be happier. http://www.superiorspindles.com/ | |
