Pwrtrip75 30th-November-2006, 12:19 AM Im repainting my car and not sure if I should go with the same color, its an 89 buick color called Black Saphire (dark blue). The newer camaros and GTOs have a color called Sunset Orange metalic, kind of a burnt orange color.
I like that but not sure what it will look like. And ive thought about a shade lighter of blue also. Same color as my 99 T/A.
Anyone have a pic of a sunset orange metalic one?
Thanks.
PowerMax 30th-November-2006, 04:37 PM Yep ... click my "Sonny" link to see more. '01 Silverado; '02 Camaro; '03 H2 Hummer, etc.. Seems like GM used this color on one model, each year since '01. I really like it!

My car is definitely '02 Camaro Sunset Orange Metallic - Dupont/standard color position. I never heard of Daytona orange. It has a lot of pearl in it and goes from a bright orange in sunlight to a deep magenta in the shadows. But, it never gets the color of that 'vette - I see what you mean. I've never seen an '02 Camaro that color - the one's I've seen are close to the same color as my Nova. It may be the same color and just a different color position (I think the scale goes from very orange to very red) - you'd have to get the exact formulation for the color you like. I painted it the color I wanted and fortunately it came out on the car exactly as the color I chose - so I'm very happy with that. It's a good thing to know about the wide color variation though - if I ever need to do some touch-up work.

Pwrtrip75 1st-December-2006, 12:09 AM Yea i see what your saying. It could be the angle and the light. We painted my freinds firebird a similar color, a red though. It does the same thing. Its dark red at night and bright red metalic in the sun. Heres his pics

It really is a sharp color and, ironically, is one of the few colors I'm considering for the Ventura when it's finally ready for it ... I suppose starting on the body work would expedite that time line, but there's plenty to do first. Anyway, I can't tell you how many times I've stopped at the Chevy dealer just to see the color.

Bluesman 9th-December-2006, 09:01 PM OK...today I saw a 'Vette in Sunset Orange Metallic! It is drop-dead gorgeous and it would be a great color for a Nova. In fact, it is (as far as I can tell from the pics) the color Jeff painted his ride and not the color in the pic. Having said that, I would love to get the color from the pic, but I am afraid it may be sunset orange metallic with the wrong color balance in the photo that Pwrtrip posted. If that really is the color I would really like to get the code!! My little truckie is just beggin for that color:cool:

PowerMax 12th-December-2006, 12:22 PM So, out of the blue yesterday, My brother-in-law sends me a couple pic's of his new '06 Vette. Guess what the name of the color is? (I asked 5 times to be sure) Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic.
Jeff

ovrdrive 13th-December-2006, 08:23 PM The 06 Corvette color is as follows:
SUNSET ORANGE METALLIC
GM 71 /WA#633H
That is directly off a can of GM touch-up spray paint. The 5oz. can cost me about $10-15.00 dollars but definitely worth it.
I am painting my 2nd Gen this color since the original color was Aztec Bronze. This color is a couple of shades lighter than the original.
My 2cents. BTW.... NICE PICS love those colors!!!
Dan
PowerMax 13th-December-2006, 09:03 PM GM definitely lists the orange color on the '06 Vette as Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic. They list the '07 orange Vette as Atomic Sunset orange Metallic. It looks to me like the same color, but with some slight color position change. The '06 Vette color is definitley tinted towards the yellow side of the scale and my '02 Camaro orange is tinted more towards red.
The whole sunset orange spectrum looks pretty cool to me.
Jeff
Bluesman 13th-December-2006, 09:17 PM I totally agree Jeff! Those are a great set of colors!
