Hi all, does anyone have a formula or something so that I can figure out the back spacing for some new 17x7 and possibly 17x8 (rear) wheels for my 71? I'm thinking it should be 4.5 but I want to make sure. It has a stock disc setup on the front and a saggy mono in the rear btw. Any help apprecieated.

Mine has mini tubs, but I think most people run 4.5 backspace.

There isnt really a formula, as no 2 novas are exactly the same (like snowflakes :) ) I put some 17X8s on mine with 5 inch BS and 255 45 tires. On my 71 they fit just fine with no rub, on my 72 the pass side was rubbing the quarter lip. I "rolled" the lip and no problems since.

I have even heard of people running 275s on 17X8s with 5 inch BS, but like i said each car is different and if you really want to be 100% sure you are going to have to measure it on YOUR car.

good luck!

Hey thanks, by "formula" i just meant measurements:rolleyes: . So is it safe to say that a 17x7 with 4.5 bs will fit on the front. But as far as the rear is concerned how do you figure it out. Do you just measure from the drum face to lip and face to shock mount area and split the difference:confused: .

Sorry for my confusion.
