Any body get rid of your side markers?

Did a search, but didn't see this topic. I'm thinking of welding up my side markers. Is it Legal? Has anybody done this? Got Pics? Happpy thanksgiving week!

The short answer to that is no, it isn't legal. However, neither are many of those aftermarket tail light kits you see on "tuner" cars and a lot of other stuff.

It isn't legal for GM to sell one new without the side markers, but any modifications that you do to it now probably aren't going to cause any problems with the law.

Personally, I'd leave 'em alone, but I'm biased due to working in the truck / car lighting industry.

I built a 4th gen car for my son to drive in the 90's and it was base/clear black, so we installed the red side markers front and back. It looked good, everyone that noticed seemed to like it. :cool:

I've seen a few 3rd gen cars where they eliminated the chrome bezel around the markers, and flush mounted the lights with the body. Looks really clean, but keeps ya legal.
Personally I'd keep 'em on for certain safety issues if it's a daily driver...but I'm biased coming from an area of the country with INCREDILY BAD DRIVERS!

looks clean, im thinking about removing them because they are the only retangles on my 74, everything else is blunt and rounded, i've already replaced the custom emblems with 454 for the same reason.

67 was the last year that the government did not mandate the side marker lights. That is only of the differences on the 67 C-10 and 68 C-10. If memory serves me right I think the same thing happened on the Camaro. 67 Camaros don't have the front markers while 68 do, but I'm not absolutely sure about this though!
