What i am looking for is to crome the engine or paint it...still dont know

Does any one have any pictures of a 305 engine?
Also it doesnt have power steering... does anyone know if i am able to install that i am sure i can but is it alot of work...

and last if anyone has any great sites that show some wire hurness diagrams
and engine parts for example like a outline of the whole engine

Thanks again I think this site is GREAT

Greetings,

A power steering swap is simple...Just need a power steering box, lines, pump, pulley, and belt. I'm sure there's members on here with the pieces that they would be willing to sell (post a message in the Nova Parts Wanted area). You can do it in a day easily.

Let's see some pics of your car!

The 305 is a small block Chevy. So almost any pictures of a 350 would be the same.

There are a few threads in here that show them.

Depending on what year the motor is, and if it is stock or not can play a huge roll on how much power the motor is making.
If it is a stock, carbureted 305, it's likely making less that 200hp. For instance, an '86 Chevy Silverado with a 305 is spec'd to 185hp.

However, a cam/intake/4bbl carb can easily get it to the 250 mark (or higher).

IIRC, the 305 didn't come standard in the '72 so the engine is not the original for the car, the 307 would have been...or somwhere along the lines someone swapped the original for a newer 305.

Yup a 350, the only thing i should change in a near future is the decal on the air cleaner or just replace the lid with something better.

My 307 Nova originally had manual steering and it was changed to PS many years ago so my memory is a little faded. If you can find a donor car to pull everything off, its pretty easy. Any 3rd gen Nova or Camaro? steering box should fit. You will need the pittman arm for the PS unit as it is different from the smaller manual pittman arm. You will also need to find a 2 groove pulley for the crankshaft if yours has a single groove.

Good Luck
