I am a new member and would surely appreciate some advice. I have purchased a 71 Nova (6 Cyl car) and plan to install a fresh 396/402" with an automatic transmission. I want this to be a driver and may take it a few car shows but don't intend to race it. I like the sleeper look with dog dish hub caps, etc. Does anyone have a 'cheat sheet' so I won't make too many mistakes? What if anything do I need to change in the front end? What transmission & convertor, radiator, starter, rear end, exhaust system, what size tires, ect. would you recommend for this setup? The 396 was dyno tested at 425hp. I have a 750 cfm Holley also. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
