Nova Brake Problem

On 09-28-2006 I posted with a disc brake problem asking for help. The calipers did not appear to be releasing and were dragging on the rotors. I finally figured out what was the matter and I wanted to post the solution to possibly help others as well as to thank those members who tried to help. The repro caliper mounting brackets were poorly engineered (gee, that's unusual for repro parts) and, when mounted, were slightly further away from the rotors than factory dimensions. Thus, when the calipers were bolted to the brackets the outside stationary brake pad was being drawn into the rotor causing the outside brake pad to drag. So, the problem was not hydraulic and amounted to no more than the inexact engineering often associated with repro junk. Thanks again to all who tried to help.

Taz: I called the company and when I related the problem the service tech indicated that they had had a problem with a particular supplier around the time my parts were shipped. The tech immediately sent out new brackets and, "bingo", the rotors spin like a top.
