Well I got it off without any trouble. It is actually lighter than I thought it would be.

Is the yellow line for your side/her side ?. If so you better get that piece of cardboard back on your side !.
If you do opt to powder coat I would suggest wire wheeling a lot of the welds and the area's around it and then take a grinder to dress up the welds a little. I've looked at a lot of frames through the years and while it's "correct" to restore it leaving the welds and welding balls on the metal it would look better detailed out some.
I would also look inside the rails and the lower portions of it and see how much grease and oil is inside. If there is some you might want to check with the powder coater and see if they might want it acid dipped to remove all the junk so when the frame is heated up the oils don't run out and screw up the powder coating. Blasting will only get what you see and will not clean around corners where the oils could be hiding.

Acid dipping will get the frame really clean, the only problem is that the inside of the frame will be bare metal and the powder coating will not cover this area.
I have seen some Chevelle guys get their frames hot dipped galvanized. It looks kind of funky but it can be painted or powder coated.
Just another option.

Is the back half removeable like the front, or is it welded to the body?

Thought I would show some pics of a galvanized frame. It turns out to be pretty cheap too. (some guys reported paying $250 for a full size frame)

That is not my frame. I purloined those pics from Team Chevelle because I remembered reading about it awhile back (of course AFTER I had painted my frame).
According to the individual who had this done, they brought the frame in as removed from the car and the galvanizer cleaned and coated it. The hot dipping seems to be the ticket because it will coat every square inch, inside and out. This person said that the going rate for dipping was in the $50.00/100 pounds range, but I'm sure there must be a minimum charge. I believe he said he had around $250.00 in the above frame for galvanizing.
