Hello Guys, I'm a newbie to this forum and I'm in the process of closing a deal on a 72 SS. I planned on using a 15x7 up front with 235x60-15 and 15x8 with 255/60-15 in the rear. Both with a back space of 4.5, will I have any issues???

the only way the rears will work is if you jack the back end waaay up. Novas don't like 15x8s in the rear, if it were mine i would go with 15x7 and use the 255 tire. heres a really good info page on this topic.

So, if I go with 15x7's all around and use the 235/60-15 in front with the 255/60-15's in the rear everything will be cool?

I have 15x8 in the rear with 255/60/15 BFG's with 5" bs and I went with 205/60/15 in the front on 15x7 with 4 1/4" bs. I am pretty sure that they will rub with a 4.5"bs. I have just at 1/2" gap between my tire and the fender lip on the rears. ALSO, if you do use 8" wheels make sure they put the weights on the front. I had mine on the rears and they hit the bottom of the shock mounts. With the weights on the front of the wheel I no longer have any problems.
I initially had 245/60's up front but the tie rod ends hit the tire, so I went with 205 instead of going to a 6" wheel.

I run 15x5 fronts and 8.5X15 centerlines rear with 5" back space, rear tires are 255/60/15 no problems.
as soon as I can bet my right side outer wheel well fixed 275/60/15 will work with no problems. I could have gone with more back space as I have at least 1" more room from the shock/frame/wheel well to the tire.

It's hard to say for sure if anything will fit on your car perfectly. The alignment of parts from car to car on these old nova's is never the same.
It sounds like the fronts will probably work okay, but you may have a little bit of fender-lip rub with one of the rears. The best way to know for sure will be to measure the car BEFORE you order your wheels. If you already have them...test fit them.

I was talking about 15x8 but only in the rear.. Not sure if using rally or not would matter. I have been thinking about the SS rally or the SS Cragar's. Have not made up my mind yet.

I run a 255x60-15 on 7" Chevy rallys in the back with NO issues at all.
I am looking at a set of 275x60-15 M?T Drag Radials and am wondering if they will work with the 7" rims? I know most fitment pages say between 7.5" and 9.5" but I was wondering if anyone has run this size tire on that size rim?

I am running 8.5" rims on the back of my nova with room to spare. They have a 5" backspace and I am running MT Et street tires with a 8.5" tread width x 26" high.

Nice Nova.. So far I'm confident that the rears at 15x8 with 4 1/2 BS using a 255x60-15 I'll be fine. The fronts I'm not too sure of yet at 15x7 with 4 3/8 BS using a 235/60-15. I have seen conflicting posts when it comes to the fronts. I guess I'm just going to have to wait till I get the car in my hands and take some measurements.

I've had 3 novas. 2 of them I ran 7"wheels on front with 3.5" backspace and never had issue.
I am running 4" wheels on front now.
