Does anyone have a diagram of the rear brakes on a 67 10 bolt (or a picture or link to a site)? I bought a rear end with the parts in a bucket, so I want to make sure I put it back together correctly. Thanks.

Thanks. the FLYER 23rd-October-2006, 12:17 AM this is kinda generic but should work for ya... http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y258/64Flyer/Brakes-Left-Rear-1.jpg grschell 23rd-October-2006, 10:00 PM Do you have a pic of the rear brakes? I can match up some, but am not sure about the e-brake mechanism. Also, the kit I got has 2 small blue springs and 2 larger green springs for the hold-downs. Am I right in assuming that the blue ones go on the side with the star adjuster mechanism (Pawl)? the FLYER 23rd-October-2006, 10:13 PM this is all i have... BUT, if i'm not mistaken, member "NovatoriusWrecks" has a page on his website that shows the brakes... search his user name and click on his web site... lotsa info there for ya ;) hope i'm helpin' ya ;) grschell 23rd-October-2006, 10:42 PM Sweet pics. They're almost identical to the front brakes. The only difference is the e-brake bar that has a small spring on one end. You can see it clearly in this pic: http://www.67chevyii.com/updates/page8images/passenger_rear_brake_done.jpg This is a very early pic, and if I remember correctly, I had the adjusters installed backwards. I flipped everything around before calling it done and had it double-checked by a professional. :o Here's a shot of the driver's site up front, showing the proper positioning of the adjuster. http://www.67chevyii.com/updates/page22images/front_brakes_complete.jpg In order to make my site easier to search, I'm completely rebuilding it. It should be done in a month or two. grschell 24th-October-2006, 11:33 AM The pics will help a bunch when I go to assemble the brakes later this week. Of course the only pitfall to looking at your site with all of the pictures is that now I want to coat everything on my car in POR-15! I was planning on using it for the underside, the rear end, and the front sub-frame and then using a brushable truck bed liner (rubberized) for the interior floor pan to keep the noise down. After seeing the pics though, I am seriously considering using it on the interior floor too. It won't stick as nicely as it should. Using a POR15 primer (the gray POR15 stuff if I remember correctly) would probably work much better than laying the black stuff down as the first coat. It's still sticking OK, but it doesn't take much of a scrape to lift some of it up. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions about anything you see on my website. :) | |
