What is the adjusting procedure for the front drum brakes on the 66? Mine is darting to the left when I jump on em kinda quick.

hi jr, the front adjustment is just like the rear. jack up the car, take off wheel and adjust brake thru slot in drum to turn star wheel. adjust to a slight drag. do the same on other side.put on wheels. make a couple of quick stops in reverse to make the self-adjusters work.that should do it. my car did the same thing when i had drum brakes. after a couple of close calls and scarey stops(crazy drivers in florida),i istalled disc brakes. problem solved. that quick pull is caused by the way the brake lines are run. it's a single line from front to back.when you step on it hard ,that front wheel gets the pressure first making the car pull.;)

Could be the shoes wore out on one side. Or mine would do the same thing because the strut rod bushings were bad on one side toeing out that wheel when I hit the brakes..

Do the front backing plates have the access slot for adjustment of the star wheel like the rear?
