Hello everyone,
I'm posting this for a friend who owns a 1964 Chevy II 2 dr non post model(400?) that is completely stock with a 6 cyl mtr. He is experiencing what he descibes as a very irritating front end squeak. He has tried to resolve the issue by putting rubber isolator pads at the top and bottom of the springs, and using lithium grease, but the squeak is still there. I believe that the bushings need to be replaced, could these be the culprit? What bushings would anyone recommend, rubber vs. poly? Has anyone had similar issues? Sorry if this has been covered before, I did a search and couldn't find anything?

while my front end isn't stock it still uses the strut rods. There is a metal sleeve inside the strud rod bushings. The bushing wore down to the point of metal on metal contact .... anyway it was really annoying squeek. quick and easy to fix.

It was really difficult to pinpoint it because it mainly happened while moving ... ended up having two people, on in the car steering left and right and other person crawling around trying to find it. We were able to find it by steering one direction and it would squeek for a split second just before max turn. anyway sorry for the long story

Another common noise culprit is the coil spring perches. As far as rubber vs poly. We have started using the polygraphite bushings, as the polyurethane could get noisy. Rubber is quiet, but does have more flex than poly.
