I am shopping for brake shoes (front and rear) for my '66 Chevy II, but I'm finding variations from my local auto parts store. I'm also only finding Bendix brakes. My car is the standard drum non power assist. Can anyone shed some light on this, as to why I'm finding variations? Or can anyone tell me where I might shop online or otherwise for brake shoes. Thanks in advance.

I had good luck finding riveted brake shoes for my 67 at NAPA. Based on previous discussions around here, they're shoes got consistently great reviews.

The last time I bught rear shoes I asked tor "econo" type and they didn't have any in stock so I took the premium ones...only a few bucks difference anyway. When I commpared them to the old ones I was surprised how much longer the lining area was on the new ones. They were also riveted rather than bonded. The ol' story you get what you pay for; as I recall they were Raybestos brand.
