Hi
I am getting ready to buy a brake line set(front, middle, and rear) and was curious what the big difference was between stainless and oem? I understand the stainless will have a hard time rusting. Other than that what the difference? I live in Arizona and do not plan on living near the ocean or salted roads. I am keeping my car with the original 250 with drum brakes. So before I buy can someone explain why I should or should not spend the xtra $50 or so for stainless.
Thanks

The original lines in my car hadn't rusted in their 39 years on the car, so I reused all the ones that I didn't mangle when disassembling & reassembling the car.
Stainless lines are pretty and durable, but unless you're going for the show car route, I think they're unecessary.

Thanks for the replys. I did not think they where anything special other than they wont rust. I plan on driving this car someday. I would have reused the old ones but at this point I am replacing everything on the car so when I am done I should have a brand new 1970 Nova, or as close to it as possible.
Thanks again

OEM is fine, I quick story...After replacing my entire brake system with CPP power disc brake set up, which did not come with all the lines had to order front kit and front to rear is also a seperate kit along with differential hose/line.....cheaper to get the entire line kit through in-line tube and its complete...I got nickel and dimed the other way. But thats another story;)
Anyway...Eveything was new except the front to rear line and the rubber differential line...after days of wondering why we could not get the rear to bleed, thinking it was a proportioning valve issue, it ended up being that the rear rubber(original line) was clogged .....it looked good from the outside....just assumed I had rear brakes before...so lesson learned, check them or buy all new since 90% was replaced anyway....which I did.:D
Just to find out that my brakes still did not feel right, and guess what it was...CPP sent me the wrong Prop. Valve(disc/drum) when I needed a disc/disc...they sent me all disc parts, how they could'nt figure this out was beyond me...OHH:eek: and I'm also having a problem with both front bleeder valves leaking, they are also sending me out replacement valves:confused: I would think it's a thread issue with the casting, I was told they have had similar issue.....NICE......I have had quite a few issues with CPP, wish it was'nt that way but it is.....My brakes have been put on hold and backed up 3 times for multiple weeks waiting on parts:mad:
Ok...I'm done now....:shh:

As far as the OEM or stainless goes......No difference in performance of the brake system. From my experience, the stainless lines are mainly used on show cars.

OE steel or stainless will perform the same. I recently had to replace all my brake lines. The price difference between steel and stainless was $25.00 so figured why not have lines that will outlast the car? The fact that they would look pretty never occurred to me until after the installation. I can tell you that I didn't hesitate to order two custom stainless fuel lines for the same car.

Captain,
Where part of Tucson do you live? Maybe we can meet up some time...
There are a couple other members in Tucson, but I have not been successful in getting together sometime.

I did my whole car in 3/16" stainless & AN fittings with no problem. Bending & flaring was easy.
