I plan on making a trip to Memphis,TN and staying in town from the 25th - 27th. (I haven't booked the hotel yet but plan to before the weekend is up.) I love the blues so Beale Street is definitely on my list of places to see. Are there any other spots I should be sure to visit? Also, I'm kind of leaning toward taking my daily driver but I would love to drive my third gen. Would my Nova be a great risk in a motel parking lot up there?

if your staying in memphis then i would not take the nova if i was going to leave it in a hotel parking lot over night. i live about 30 minutes from downtown. do you know where you are planning on staying yet?

the memphis zoo is pretty cool and if you go then you should grab lunch at zinnies or hueys in midtown. graceland isnt really too impressive and its in a bad part of town. vaporlock might chime in with a few suggestions.

Looking to stay somewhere near Beale Street. I've been wrenching on the car all day (and have to hit the boneyard again in the morning) so I'll make some online reservation tomorrow night. I'm coming to Memphis mainly for the blues scene. I was kind of checking to see if there were any activities related to the car hobby while I was there. No offense but I can go to the zoo in Atlanta. I've gotten a little long in the tooth for that kind of stuff anyway. My work schedule has been nuts for the last several months. I'm hoping to kick back and relax a little.
I was already going to skip Graceland. I appreciate the restaurant recommendations. I definitely want in on that action. Still wish I could drive my Nova though. It just makes the drive so much more enjoyable. People are friendlier when you drive that car. They are always smilin' and wavin' and giving me the thumbs up. Pretty women want to go for a ride...;) I guess that's biggest part of why I wanted to drive it.:D Oh well.

Reservations are made. Found a sitter for the car and somebody to feed the cat. Myself and an old drinking buddy are leaving tomorrow morning to spend the weekend in Memphis. If anybody else is in town this weekend, I'll be the guy kicked back on Beale Street with the shaved head, cigar in one hand, and a cold beverage in the other. I'm hoping to hear some good blues and talk to some pretty ladies.:D
