I'm looking at different options to upgrade my current 4 lug drum brakes to 5 lug disks and came across this kit. Has anyone used it or have any opinions?

Scott,

I installed the 2" drop spindle kit when I converted mine to 5 lug. Installation was easy and the parts seem to be good quality. As other posts on the subject have shown, some have had wheel/tire fitment issues. If you go with the drop spindles, back spacing is critical. 3 1/2" to 4 1/4 " back spacing is about your limit, depending on the wheel diameter. I have 18" x 7" with 4 1/4" back spacing. Clearance to the tie rod end is close and close to rubbing the fenders on the outside. Had to roll the fenders slightly.

HodgePodge, I bought a four wheel setup for my 3rd gen. I got everything from the pedal back and the kit was really nice and complete. Everything went together very well and I'm really pleased. I would suggest you do not buy it directly from CPP, they seem to run higher on price and shipping. Check out the tread in the BS area titled Shipping Charge on Front End Kit. There were several places to shop mentioned there that offer CPP kits.

Good Luck

HodgePodge I got my CPP setup from Matts Classic Bowties in Concord CA. They are a distributor and bettered CPP'S price by almost $150. If you are close to there and do not have to ship that would be good. If you do call there talk to Kim she is the owners wife and will make sure you get what you need.

I found it by luck (talking to Kim). They distribute for CPP, Goodmark, BAER, Billet Specialties and a few others. 866-628-8746 or local 925-676-7172.

You can try and talk to their salespeople and try to beat them down to a comparable price. Also, it may help to mention that you are one a thousand or so members of this site, and that you constantly are being asked feedback on their products. Hey- it does not hurt to try. All thay can say is -no,sorry. Dale
