I'm not a small guy, 6'1" @ 215lbs, but I was not expecting my Yenko to be weighing around 3400 lbs. I'm thinking the scales were weighed down with water or something, it had rained pretty hard earlier that morning. M novanut72 14th-August-2006, 07:48 PM Three years after I first got the car in 2001 I weighed it and it was 3520 lbs. The car is a small block car I have put the original 72 front end back on (used to be a 73) I have installed a fuel cell, new trunk pan, and floor pans,85 camaro bucket seats, sub frame connectors, eight point roll bar, and taken the A/C out. I actualy have one aluminum kirkey race seat installed in the car when I weighed it, the fuel cell was full, but the rear bumper was off. When I did the trunk I took the drop out And made my floor braces underneath.http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n150/novanut72/92c5bcc4.jpg onecarnut 14th-August-2006, 09:29 PM Here is a link to "Nova Resources" that list the weights for Nova's. http://www.novaresource.org/weights.htm bowtie0069 14th-August-2006, 09:34 PM My 69 was a 6 cyl/3 spd. no carpet strippo model--as light as you could get from the factory, and it weighed 3140. Now, with no back seat, door panels, a lot of brackets and interior pieces cut away, aluminum fuel tank, aluminum heads, aluminum intake, headers etc., and a glass hood, it's just a hair under 3000lbs. The 1 3/4" .134 wall roll bar put back most of what I've removed over the years. americangraffiti 14th-August-2006, 11:22 PM My '70 Nova with the big block 427, alum heads, Tremec 5 speed, wash mat (no carpet), power steering, Cragar SS wheels, sub frame connectors, Ansen cast bellhousing and half tank gas weighed in at 3500 lbs.........without driver :D NovaSS396L34 15th-August-2006, 01:32 AM My 74 Pro Street Nova with the 496 big block stroker with aluminum heads weighed in at 3,360 without me. That's with a full cage and full tank. DriveWFO 15th-August-2006, 01:43 AM Not that this will help you at all, but I've got my 74 Nova down to 3390# with me in it and 8 gallons of fuel. The car itself weighs 3145#, and I'm 6'1" 245# (just got a tread mill...looking for a 1/2 tenth :)) 72Orange 15th-August-2006, 09:47 AM Mine weighed 3165 with the following: 3/8 tank of gas alum radiator upgraded to discs in front a/c and heater removed no radio or speakers ALso, I have a mini starter to put in still. That should save about 20 lbs or so. DriveWFO 15th-August-2006, 10:09 AM I wonder how much more an identical, stock 74 weighed compared to a 68-72??? novaboy009 15th-August-2006, 11:04 AM It's all in the bumpers Davo:) Kev Nova_Guy 15th-August-2006, 11:07 AM Mine weighed in at 3410 Gloryhound 15th-August-2006, 11:54 AM I wonder how much more an identical, stock 74 weighed compared to a 68-72??? The 74 doors also have the crash braces in them and let me tell you that adds some wieght. I just removed a set of 74 doors and they are alot heavier than my 72's doors. Then the bumpers as everyone knows require two men and a boy to lift. DriveWFO 15th-August-2006, 11:56 AM The 74 doors also have the crash braces in them and let me tell you that adds some wieght. I just removed a set of 74 doors and they are alot heavier than my 72's doors. Then the bumpers as everyone knows require two men and a boy to lift. You got that right! Though, having more weight at the rear bumper is a good thing. TY70SS 15th-August-2006, 03:51 PM My 70 ss weights 3042 with out me in it.That with a full interior, all iron motor, full exaust. Not to bad for a factory 4000 pound car. Pick 15th-August-2006, 04:29 PM I did not know until just a few weeks ago that you can buy fiberglass bumpers for the '73/'74 from VFN. Shipping weight is 3# on them...... http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/site.htm Gloryhound 15th-August-2006, 08:04 PM Now that everyone knows all those wieghts listed on the Nova Resource page they will all know that front power disc brakes add 20-30 lbs to their 3rd gen Nova! So I guess I will make the sacrafice here who wants to trade their power disc brake set up for my lighter wieght drum set?:D novanut72 16th-August-2006, 06:34 PM My car has most of the interior (no carpert, no headliner) need to install those! It has 1 3/4 .134 wall 8 point roll bar, 73 power disc brakes, fiberglass hood, aluminum radiator , and plastic 16 gallon fuel cell, cast iron heads full 3 inch exaust, and a turbo 350 trans. The fuell cell was full when I weighed it! I just can't figure out how it lost 200 lbs. and I added the roll bar. | |
