Finally after 2 years I had my hazy, faded, wiper scratched winshield replaced. I should have done this in the body shop when it was out. Oh well. Man what a difference inside and out:

Yeah it is amazing how much different the world looks through a new windshield. I couldn't believe the difference when i did mine. Now, I just need to get new glasses. My lenses are full of swirls and scratches worse than my old car windshield was.

Hi 68ChevyII,
My '70 will need a windshield after I repair the rust in the windshield opening. Can you tell me how much it set you back?
Thanks,

Greetings,
I had Safelite put a windshield in my car earlier this year when I was putting it back together and it was $171 installed including tax. Now mine didn't have the radio antenna in it, so if you need one with the antenna in it it's probably a bit more.

During a recent repaint on my 68 Chevy II, I also replaced the windshield. The company that handled the job came to the paint shop twice. First to remove the old one so we could paint the dash, then two weeks later to install the new tinted one. Both with/without antenna choices were less than 150.00.

Sort of a tag-on to this thread...
I have to replace my windshield, too ... cracked it while removing the trim (duh! :( ). I had a '70 Olds Cutlass with the antenna in the windshield and didn't like it much ... too directional ... the reception changed when I turned a corner. I've been looking for a good spot for a power antenna and really haven't found one. I'm thinking of putting it on the right rear quarter, but the shape of the body back there isn't real good for the antenna base.
Have any of you used a power antenna and where did you put it? ...or did you stick with the windshield antenna?

My car had a rusted sill also when it was in the bodyshop. The glass was 187.00 installed. This has no antenna.
