Hood Emblem, 78 Rally

Anyone know for sure if the bowtie emblem on the hood above the Rally emblem is original? When I got mine it had it on there, and I thought it looked kind of cluttered and tacky, so i took it off. It was right above the Rally emblem on the grille, and seemed very close to be original. I still have it, but not sure if I should put it back on for correctness or not because I still think it looks tacky.

The bowtie emblem is correct for 1978 standard Novas only. It's deleted on the Rally and the Nova Custom has a different trim across the front of the hood.

I'll 2nd that. I have a true 78 RPO26 and it's not original to the Rally. In fact, check your cowl tag, the car itself may not be an original Rally. Should have RPO26 on tag if it's a true Rally.

No its a true Rally, I wouldn't have bought her if she wasn't.
I know there are a few unshady people out there trying to pass of wanna be rally's, and maybe they look ok and all.
I just wanted an authentic Rally car.
I wonder if someone just changed the hood at one time, and didn't bother checking if the hood emblem is correct or not.???..

Probably, or just thought it'd look cool with a bowtie on it.

Kind of looks a little off center so was probably just added by previous owner, could just be the way it looks in the photo though.

Standard 78 had one. It was taken off prior to paint. May have it somewhere in the clutter.

i had one on mine to took it off looks better plus its another addition to my emblem collection.
