Hi guys,
Well, as promised, here are some pictures of my high school sweetheart. Well the one that didn't break my heart. :)
Plenty of good memories in this car. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, these are over 20 years old.

Got this car shopping with my dad 2 months before my 16th birthday 1983. $1350

Notice that the grille is missing. It was that way when we bought it, replaced it from the dealer, I remember so clearly that it was $150, BRAND NEW! those were the days...:) At least my dad was a mechanic, and I got it for dealer price.

After the grille replaced, same paint, not much but a good cleaning to this point.

Then, because I knew everything, like every other 17 year old, I decided that it would look better BLACK. summer 1984
It did a little, but now I wish i had kept it blue. hindsight 20/20

High School Drags, at the then Bonneville Raceway, now Rocky Mountain Raceway RMR, SLC UT. Anyone know where I could find another one of those "HiJacker" Rabbit Window stickers.

It wasn't the fastest thing out there, I think my best run was just under 14, still not bad for a 305 with a modest cam upgrade, intake, carb, headers, and exhaust. I did replace the 3spd with a rockcrusher 4spd, hurst shifter.

The only interior picture I ever took of this car. Check out the custom dash cover, and air freshener. Don't be too harsh, it was 1984 remember.

Then the sadest day in my life at the time. Sell day. 1987 :( Never did get around to putting the Red stripes and SS badges back on.
I forgot to mention before, that I sold this car to pay for a WEDDING RING!!!

Well, I got divorced 6 years ago, and I remarried a wonderful girl that helped me find my vindication.

Thanks Babe. :)

Footnote:

The 76 SS went through 2 owners after me, and I found it at a pawn shop a few years after, broken down and looking rather sad. My heart broke.

Still married and broke, I couldn't afford to get it from the pawn broker right then.
I kept my eye on it trying to raise the money to get her out of hock and get her right again.
Finally, when i had the money, I went back and she was gone.
Thats when the story finishes with the scrap yard.
The scrap dealer was such an ***, an extra couple of hundred wasn't worth his time to get her from where she sat, and so she ended up crushed.........:(

Live and learn! SS looked nice. What is that cover, looks like a fur in the pic? lol

At least you got one back that looks just as nice, and a wife that can appreciate a good car too! ;)

Just don't ever let her talk you into selling it!!! Car first, wife 2nd! :D

Dash cover was a left over piece of black faux fur. :D
There is a regular carpet type fabric dash pad cover under that.

Glad you found a Nova to replace your first and that your new wife understands your passion. Still looking for a Nova to replace my first car that was sold in '99. I think my wife understands, too.

- lol, I know, I still have both my NOS (now) 77 Rally grille AND the 175.00 sealer invoice, and that was 1991.

I forgot to mention before, that I sold this car to pay for a WEDDING RING!!!

- I feel your pain ..... sold my 69 Chevelle SS396,4 speed car to pay for my own wedding ( 5 years this August - and she hasn't killed me yet , even let me buy my Phoenix last month, lol ) .

sad story, especially about the junkman, but glad you got a nice replacement .

Good story! I like the first black 4th gen. Reminds me a little of my own beat down high school drag car/daily driver:)
