How'd you STL area folks come through last night? Amazingly, our power stayed on through the whole thing. I'm in the south city area. I have a split tree in the back yard that's holding down some kind of line, but I haven't been out to look at it yet.

We had a very powerful storm come through last night, and it's unusual that it was a direct hit on the city. No worries though, the high today is predicted at 102.

We had some pretty good winds and a good light show afterwards. We only had one bigger limb break off and in the yard but a lot of small twigs and leaves from the woods close by. I mostly stood on the back porch to watch it and it was kinda neat. It was somewhat eerie when the 50 or 60 MPH winds quit within a minute or so and the upper tree leaves were not moving at all.
I tried getting some shots of the spyder lightning afterwards but couldn't get it timed right with my camera.
It was good to see neighbors out helping to direct traffic around roads that were blocked. I ended up taking some signs from the end of the street that were left there from the county topcoating the street earlier this week and placed them before the crest of a hill so the guys directing traffic would be a little safer. For some reason they wanted to stand past the crest of the hill.
Yep, today we'll be getting back to our triple digit temps. It's suppose to storm again tonight. Hopefully not as bad.

Greetings,
I lost my power a little after 7p...Came back on around 4:30 this morning. I was fortunate...No damage to my house or garage, just a lot of limbs and everybody else's trash cans and such (the joy of living on a corner!). Now on one of the streets my house is on, a huge tree was uprooted and went right across the road, snapping 4 power lines and causing some damage to a house as well. Here at the dealership a tent we had set up was destroyed and 2 Chrysler 300's have extensive damage. But all is well!

Turns out the line was only the cable, and not even broken at that. Still, I got a good size tree limb to cut up, 10-12 inches thick, and no chainsaw.

You guys are way behind. We got our storm Monday night. Lots of trees down the odd big roof missing, and at least one death. There are still people in town that still don't have power.

Lost power at about 8:30 PM last night...got up at 5:00 AM (had to use my cell phone for an alarm clock).
Started the chain saws at 6:00 AM to take down the tree in my front yard....mother nature decided it shouldn't be there anymore :D
Lost some trim on the house and finally got finished around 2 this afternoon with all the cleanup.
That was one nasty storm.....anytime they come in from the East side, hold on to your shorts.
Good news though.....Nova was safe :D
Now I'm just waiting for Uncle Sam to send me my relief check :D

I didn't think you had weather over there in SoCal.
We were lucky, considering the number of houses and cars that ended up with trees on top of them. I had a fun afternoon of chainsawing and dragging brush in the hundred degree soup that passes for St. Louis summer air, but overall no big deal.

it's been really humid here the last week... we generally aren't humid at all. here i'm lookin' at the sky this mornin' and reading yer guys's thread... all of a sudden gloom turned nasty and it let loose. LOUD thunder and lightening. i'm in a agricultural area and when our power goes, we're last on the list ta get back up. our small city's been fighting with the power co. for years ta make us more a priority, but keeps falling on deaf ears.
i liked it here, sorry 'bout you guys's weather probs. once it started raining here it cooled off outside and was nice. my plants like this weather too :D
i've turned more fatalist in the years... i see bad things on the horizon that have become, in my opinion, irreversable. i can see the writing on the wall... bad news. but i'm a double edged sword, good things always can be found... just how ya consider final situation...

We got almost an inch this morning and half that yesterday, very nice after 3 weeks of almost no rain.
But no real flash and bang, just steady heavy rain.:D :D
The yard and pool are very happy right now!

I just got back in town. We were on vacation. I guess it was a real humdinger. Pulled up to the house, there was debris all over the place. A couple large limbs down in the back. We have power, seems like alot of people still dont.

We never lost power here in Swansea, but about two blocks south in Belleville and about 3 miles North in St. Clair were without power for the better part of two days.

I was sitting at Boeing getting unloaded when the storm hit.
The wind got so bad, that me and a couple of other truck drivers that had empty trailers had to park behind an aircraft hanger to keep from getting blowed over!

I drove through Mitchell Ill (next to Granite City) yesterday and at the I-270 / 111 intersection I saw a Motel with their Large sign (the kind of sign you can see for miles) in the parking lot laying on top of a new looking Dodge Ram 4x4 dually. Mashed the front enough to bend the frame! All the tall motel signs where blown out.
