Hey guys, I am aquiring a 78 Nova 4 dr for $200
from a guy who has it in his barn and needs to get rid
of it. Its not bad it has the wheel well rust but the floors and trunk are solid
and the interior is in great shape, it has a straight 6 in it with a built TH350 out
of a truck they scrap from a wreck. I am also looking at getting a 396 big block for $200 from the same guy, will this motor fit in the newer body ok without major mods??

It's easier to get a BB in a 4th gen than a 3rd gen. A little more clearance around the steering box and firewall.

Sweet I think I may jump into it then.
It would be nice to have a well known
BB in a 4th gen car. This is gonna be fun.
That and I cannot pass up the price!!

It's gotta be a sleeper. Brown, 4 door. Dog dishes. Big block.

LOL it is brown with brownish plad interior lol
It has steel wheels on it lol. I thought about the
sleeper look with it being a 4 door and all BUT
I like the hot rod look as well BUT well will see what happens
I may slap on stock rallies for that year and keep it
stock looking. But I think I may have to change the color lol

Also as far as the BB, if it has A/C you may run into a couple problems there, but nothing you can't work around one way or another. At worst, take the A/C out. It don't normally get that hot in MN anyways that you can't just roll the windows down and cruise. lol

I dunno how much of a "hot rod" look you're gonna get with a more door. Make it sleepy, add a BB, 4 speed and 4.56's. Now we're in business:)

Have to agree with Kev. Since you have the granny plaid interior anyway, keep the body mostly stock and surprise 'em when you hit the gas. Sleepers are cool.

Have to disagree....
I just have always liked the lines of the 75-9 4 door sedans, nice roofline and window angles, the extra doors the only 'hinderence', the lines are still good.
And besides, my favorite Nova of all time was a certain 4 door out of York,PA :D
if only I'd joined NNN 6 months earlier when they were trying to sell it , I;d be driving that now.
( in fact have talked to years about building a twin / clone, so send the 4 door out my way and I'll get my pink and blue paint mixed up .......

Those gross looking vent louver things behind the rear doors are what really distracts me. They gotta go.
PS, this more door looks good as a hot rod, but it might just be the smoke distracting me;). It also looks like an 80's Malibu or Cutlass lol.

Well will see what happens lol If
the cards are laid right anything can be done
and look good afterwards. You just have to
do it right select the right peices and use them
tastefully. We will see how it turns out in the end :D
