im new to arizona and i was wondering what the scoop is with emissions testing. i looked at the mvd website and it looks pretty harsh. is anyone from arizona running a modified engine in a car new than 1965? what does it take to pass. i have a 65 impala 4dr now that im lookin to get rid of for a 70 nova. just wondering what my limitations are. thanks in advance -pat

I have a 71 nova that I have to pass emissions every year. I have a 355 sbc, performer intake, 750 dp, headers, etc...The only problem that they had was that my exhaust dropped off before the axle. They claimed my exhaust had to come past the axle, or "my axle could damage their equipment"

so is the emissions test itself very strict? i only really know about emissions testing in new york because thats where im from. if you dont have the original engine how does that affect the test? i guess what im trying to figure out how much i can do to a motor before it wont pass.

just try it first then if it doesnt pass in a certain area youll know what to tune..the org motors doesnt matter on a 70 that dont pop your hood its just a roller machine and an idle test..you didnt need to have an air pump or cats until 74
