i recently inherited a 1978 nova and i am 15 years old and i have been working on it and i have found that the a/c is not working. I have checked around about getting it repaired and it is too much $$$ so i have decided to remove the a/c system all together. Is there any reason i shoudn't remove it because of the vacuum system for the motor

I would leave it there and down the road you may be able to afford to get it working.A/C is nice on those hot days.KEEP IT!!! I WISH THE GUY I GOT MY CAR FROM LEFT IT THERE.

Whatever you do, make sure there is no pressure in the lines before taking them off. When I was 16 I removed the AC from a Chevelle. I cut the line and freon shot out everywhere and made a hell of a mess. You should be able to take it somewhere and have the freon removed.
I have most of the parts off my 78 Nova's AC system, if you need anything let me know.
